Description: original was a copperplate engraving with later hand colouring

Henry Andrews, an English naturalist, created a hand-colored copperplate engraving for "The Botanist's Repository, comprising color'd engravings of new and rare plants only," which was published in London between 1797 and 1815, and is used as the basis for Heritage Editions' Banksia Serrata reproduction print.

For this innovative effort, Andrews sketched, engraved, and coloured 664 plant specimens. The majority of the botanical specimens exhibited were very distinct from anything that had previously been seen in Britain. These contained a lot of Australian and South African species that were very dissimilar to blooms that had been observed in the northern hemisphere's colder climes. This is a beautiful collection of Heritage Editions Banksia prints.
