Brother of the great botanical artist Pierre Joseph Redoute

Henri-Joseph Redoute was a French artist, brother of the great botanical artist Pierre Joseph Redoute. Henri-Joseph was invited to accompany napoleon on the 1798 invasion of Egypt as a savant to capture the country that Napoleon passed through

Henri Joseph functioned primarily as a zoological artist. Many of his sketches were engraved during this trip and used as illustrations for the "Description de L'Egypte" that napoleon commissioned from the artists who accompanied him
