Levasseur’s maps are distinctive for their wide decorative margins containing elaborate depictions of the scenery, the people, and trade goods of the areas that he mapped.Until recent times. Levsseur’s maps were rarely found outside of France as they were used in public libraries and town halls.
This collection of his works represents some of the last great decorative maps of the 19th Century.
