Pears Soap is the oldest continuously existing brand in the world, having been first founded and registered in 1789. It has always had very few ingredients and is hypoallergenic.

In 1879, Andrew Pears, a cornish barber, opened a store in Soho, a wealthy area of London and started making creams, powders, and other beauty products.

Soon after, Pears noticed his socialite clientele were using his products to cover the damage caused by the arsenic-laden beauty products of that time, applied to achieve the alabaster complexion that was so fashionable. He saw a gap in the market and Pears soap was born. Initially, it was sold only to his exclusive customer base

Pears soap was first mass-produced in 1807 by Andrew Pears at his factory just off Oxford St London. It was the world's first mass-produced translucent soap.

The advertising pioneer and genius was Thomas J Barrat, his son-in-law, who helped Andrew  Pears bring Pears soap to the open market. Considered the "father" of modern advertising, he changed the distribution system snd came up with the extensive advertising campaigns that have become iconic and made Pears soap
